Area of Occupancy: 95% of the WISA population is estimated to occur in this area and is where the WISA Best Management Practices (BMPs) apply. 2. Habitat Model: polygons delineating class 1 habitat (highest quality), class 2 habitat (foraging), and areas where no habitat has been found. The BMPs have specific harvest practices outlined for class 1 and 2 habitat. a. This model has been applied in the West and Okanagan-Boundary AO. To facilitate spatial analysis, all subtypes of Class 1 habitat areas were subsumed to a single data class titled Class 1 within column BPM in the attribute table of the habitat model. b. The East Kootenay AO habitat model is still being developed; for the time-being class 1 is considered to be anything within 500m of a confirmed and probable nest site and all other area within the AO is considered to be class 2. 3. Observations from 1994-present: includes observed nest trees (nesting confirmed), potential nest trees (nesting probable), and individual observations. 4. Restoration features: the locations of trees inoculated with fungus to create WISA nesting habitat. Nesting habitat takes decades to develop, and retention of these rotting trees is essential for long term habitat supply. Inoculated trees may be labelled through signage. https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/williamson-s-sapsucker-wisa- https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/4846e8e0-5c70-45c7-8bad-f711fe617ec9 Thu, 05 Feb 2026 00:00:00 PST Economic Indicators Application Data This dataset provides monthly international trade exports from British Columbia, broken down by commodity and destination, along with monthly US housing starts (seasonally adjusted) and hotel occupancy rates. A drinking water system is any domestic system servicing anything other than a single-family dwelling, as defined in the Drinking Water Protection Act. Source Area is a broad term used to describe any area that could potentially contribute water to the drinking water system; it does not mean that hydrologic analyses have been completed to determine likelihood of connectivity. These source areas most often represent the entire aquifer extent (for ground water systems) or the watershed upstream from the intake (for surface water systems). This is one of three Drinking Water Sources datasets (along with the DWS - Intakes/Wellheads points dataset, and DWS - Protection Zones polygons dataset). Note: these polygons have unique Source Areas IDs used to relate them to the Intakes/Wellhead points. https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/drinking-water-sources-source-areas https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/2ed101db-f2aa-4487-aa20-8f4c412e69b2 Mon, 24 Nov 2025 00:00:00 PST Drinking Water Sources - Protection Zones Polygon features showing various zones of protection around drinking water system intakes/wellheads. A drinking water system is any domestic system servicing anything other than a single-family dwelling, as defined in the Drinking Water Protection Act. Zone of protection is a broad term that represents a wide variety of areas as they have been delineated in their corresponding report. The methods and processes used to delineate these zones vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, population, vulnerability, hydrologic/hydrogeologic parameters, etc. For the use of this dataset, the term Protection Zone means that protection measures should be considered and/or implemented in these areas due to the importance of these areas supplying drinking water to their water system users. Protection Zone does not mean that protection measures have been implemented in these areas, nor that protection measures are not required beyond the boundary of these areas. This is one of three Drinking Water Sources datasets (along with the DWS - Intakes/Wellheads points dataset, and DWS - Source Areas polygons dataset). Drought conditions are typically monitored following spring freshet (the seasonal rise in water levels resulting from melting snowpack) until the onset of winter conditions. This timing can vary considerably for different areas of the province from year to year depending on conditions. When drought conditions are actively monitored, drought levels are typically set weekly or biweekly. To learn more about drought conditions, patterns and trends visit the [B.C. Housing Affordability Note: the best method to download the .csv file is to right click on the ‘Access/Download’ link on the box to the right, and then select ‘Save link as’ to download the .csv file directly. This data provides a quarterly overview of housing affordability for homeowners in B.C. and in its major cities (census metropolitan areas and census agglomerations). Housing affordability is measured using the Mortgage Payment Percent of Income (MPPI) which is calculated every quarter based on: • A hypothetical new home buyer earning the median after-tax income for the quarter • The median home sale price in a region • A 25-year variable-rate mortgage • The minimum down payment • The mortgage rate set at the average quarterly prime interest rate By combining home prices, income levels, and mortgage rates, the MPPI produces a full picture of housing affordability over time. A higher MPPI means it is less affordable to buy a home. The Client Roster is available in a number of variants, including continuous values, annual summaries, and immutable snapshots, for different purposes. This dataset - the Contiguous Client Roster - provides listing of the values as they change. The (contiguous) client roster provides the ability to query the situation at random points in the past. (N.B. historical data is both available, and updatable, so occasionally records for past years will change. It is not a fixed-for-ever snapshot). Due to complexity of the Contiguous Client Roster we recommend analysts and researchers to first evaluate whether the other annual summaries of registration presented in the main Client Roster is suffcient for their analysis before requesting Contiguous Client Roster. The Client Roster provides an aggregated breakdown of all people who live or have lived in B.C., over time, and it specifically focuses on people who have registered in the health care system with a Personal Health Number (PHN). The Client Roster was created out of a need for standardized client information. Prior to the client roster, each analyst built their own collection of client information using data sources such as: Client Registry, RAPID and Vital event data sources. Besides client demographics such as age, sex, and geographic location, the Client Roster also shows changes to client eligibility over time, including eligibility for MSP and PharmaCare programs. The Client Roster is available in a number of variants, including continuous values, annual summaries, and immutable snapshots, for different purposes. The Client Roster presents three different ways of grouping client services: 1. Values summarizing a calendar year (January-December) 2. Values summarizing a fiscal year (April-March) 3. Continuous listing of the values as they change (called the Contiguous Client Roster) If you are a researcher and want to work with us to help make BC programs and services better, apply to use this dataset and don't hesitate to ask questions here: https://dpdd.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2 https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/metadata-for-contiguous-client-roster https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/8a95f50a-f198-4779-9a19-e464a752e64d Fri, 16 May 2025 00:00:00 PST Cariboo Consolidated Roads This dataset contains roads in the Cariboo Natural Resource Region that have undergone an ortho-verification process. This process entailed a manual review of every road segment against high resolution satellite imagery to determine a) if the road exists or not and b) if the road linework is in the correct location. Road locations were corrected as required. Roads that were visible on the satellite imagery but missing from the road dataset were digitized (added in) and roads that were not visible on the satellite imagery were flagged as not existing and removed from this published dataset. Additionally, if an assessor was unable to determine whether a road existed or not based on the satellite imagery the road was flagged for a future field-based assessment. As of April 2025 this field-based assessment is not complete. A field called [ROAD_TENURE_TYPE] identifies the administrative responsibility for each road, and was filled out based on several publicly available road datasets. Where there is a discrepancy between the information in this dataset and the source dataset(s), the source dataset(s) should be considered the authoritative source. These ordinal ratings (E1-5) reflect the probability for successful establishment and growth of a species across the entire environmental space of a site series in the baseline (pre-climate change) climate normal period of 1961-90. The environmental suitability ratings focus on how well the species is suited to the climatic and site (i.e. edaphic) conditions of a site series regardless of management objective. Tree species environmental suitability ratings refer to the degree to which a tree species can be successfully established and maintained to maturity under specific climatic & edaphic conditions in the absence of independent limiting factors such as biotic (e.g. forest health) or abiotic (e.g. fire) disturbances. The baseline environmental suitability does not include regions where a species is absent in natural stands due to non-climatic or site level factors such as unfavourable disturbance regimes or migration lags.
